This took ages, it was for the communication arts call for entires in Illustration this year. It's based on an idea a friend of mine had. She wrote a childrens book about a little girl who finds an egg and wonders what kind of animal is inside. It turns out to be a bird egg. This is a page from the book as I see it.
I don't know how I feel about this thing, I probably wont for a while. Here it is anyway
mixed media: colured pencil, gouache, watercolour, and a fair bit of photoshop.
Wow this is good! the expression on the girls face is amazing! This is VERY good!

This is lovely, I went "Oh wow!" when I saw the thumbnail! To my eyes there are a few stylistic contrasts (the scales of the dragon look rather like lineart, so soft shading of the little girl seems a little out of place), but the composition is well thought out and the details really caught my eye.
That is amazing, and I can see this being the cover of a book. The color is so vibrant and the style of the whole piece just says "fantastical whimsy." You definitely have a talent for color!
this is cool I recognized it as some sort of childrens book picture before I saw that it in fact was... In school, I had a similar [or maybe even same..?] project where we take a childrens story page and make a picture from a quote of the text of our choice, in our own style. I chose Alice in Wonderland [but my pic didn't turn out that well, we had hardly any time to work on it!] but I really like this and how it was coloured
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article.
In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.

A challenge. I see a chance to add real colours to my favourite palette.
